Broadly speaking, there are two main types of bags—open bags and valve bags. While multi-purpose open bags are widely used, the AMO bag system is essentially designed for valved bladders.
This is because valved bladders offer numerous advantages regarding cleanliness, safety, and efficiency.
When filling an open bag, the opening is the entire top, and powder drips in from above. In contrast, valve bags are filled through a valve built into a corner of the top of the bag. The filling nozzle is inserted to maintain a closed environment when the bag is full.
With valve bags, the sealing unit completes the basic inflation process; no secondary sewing processes, such as sewing the bag, are required. Another advantage is that the bladder can be smaller and have a higher filling density
